Sarah has been helping people feel better since 2007, but her appreciation for the human body started much earlier. As a competitive gymnast, she learned firsthand how demanding movement can be—and how important it is to take care of the body before pain or injury takes over. Her experience as an athlete gave her a lifelong valuation for recovery and injury prevention as well as awe for the incredible things our bodies are capable of.
That passion eventually became a career. After graduating from massage school in 2007, Sarah spent the next several years working alongside chiropractors in a variety of settings. Those experiences became an important foundation for her approach to bodywork. It gave her the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients, injuries, movement patterns and treatment goals. More importantly, it taught her how to think beyond simply treating the spot that hurts and instead look at the bigger picture of how the body moves and compensates.
Along the way, Sarah’s love of learning continued to shape her work. From 2009 - 2015, she served as the head of the Anatomy & Physiology Department at The School of Holistic Massage & Reflexology (where she attended) in Downers Grove, Illinois. Although she stepped away from the classroom to focus on her growing practice, she continues to mentor massage therapists who are building their skills and confidence. She regularly is asked back to her alma mater to present her curated presentation, “10 Steps to Opening a Massage Business.”
By 2014, Sarah had developed the experience, confidence and slightly stubborn independent streak needed to build something on her own. Sarassage was born in late 2014 with a simple goal: to provide thoughtful, individualized, therapeutic bodywork in an environment that was professional without feeling clinical, and welcoming without sacrificing expertise. A true boutique experience.
In 2019, Sarassage expanded by moving into its current location and evolved into something bigger than a solo massage practice. Sarah envisioned a shared space where like-minded professionals could work independently while creating community around complementary approaches to health and well-being. Today, Sarassage is home to a collective of practitioners who share Sarah’s belief that good care should be personalized, professional, and compassionate.
When she’s not in the treatment room, you’ll find Sarah with her hands in her garden, working on a creative project, hiking with her dog, or relaxing on the deck with a good book. She loves live music, enjoys travel and is happiest anywhere there’s sunshine, fresh air and an adventure waiting nearby!
